Sometimes, people really test your patience.
Someone recently asked me why I keep “taking the side” of fellow veterinarians on my own page, even accusing me of covering for them.
Well, to answer that general question:
This is a veterinary welfare page.
So, obviously, veterinarians will have a voice here.
This page was created to talk about the realities veterinarians face. The pressure. The burnout. The public shaming. The impossible expectations. The financial realities of running a practice. And yes, the times when veterinarians feel that nobody is willing to hear their side.
That does not mean veterinarians are always right.
It does not mean mistakes should be hidden.
And it certainly does not mean anyone is above accountability.
But there are already countless spaces where pet owners can tell their stories and advocate for animal welfare.
This particular space was created so veterinarians can tell theirs.
It actually reminds me of someone entering a group chat about rambutan and suddenly challenging everyone to a rambulan.
Wrong room.
You are welcome to read. You are welcome to disagree. You are even welcome to criticize respectfully.
But if the very idea of a page advocating for veterinary welfare offends you, then perhaps this simply is not the page for you.
And that is perfectly fine.
It is not a loss to this page if you choose to leave.
Not every space has to be for everyone.
This one is for veterinarians, for veterinary welfare, and for giving a voice to a profession that is too often expected to remain silent while everyone else speaks for us.
Wrong audience does not mean wrong advocacy. Sometimes, you simply walked into the wrong room.
