Does your vet clinic have a Facebook page? You may have a new BIR requirement

Think this applies only to Shopee and Lazada sellers?

Think again.

If you operate a veterinary clinic, animal hospital, veterinary pharmacy, distribution business, or any veterinary-related business with a website, Facebook page, e-commerce store, or other online commercial presence, this is something you need to check.

The Bureau of Internal Revenue now requires covered businesses and professionals conducting business online to display a BIR Registration Seal Badge on their online platforms.

And the requirement is not limited to businesses selling physical products.

It also covers professionals and businesses offering services online or maintaining an online commercial presence.

SO WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH VETERINARY CLINICS?

Today, many veterinary practices have:

  • Facebook business pages
  • Websites
  • Online appointment systems
  • Online pharmacies or stores
  • Shopee or Lazada accounts
  • Social media pages offering products or services
  • Online ordering and delivery systems

If these platforms are being used commercially, do not automatically assume that your veterinary clinic is exempt simply because you also operate a physical establishment.

The BIR Registration Seal Badge serves as digital proof that the business is properly registered with the BIR.

It contains a QR code that allows consumers and authorities to verify the registration without requiring the business owner to publicly display sensitive information such as a personal TIN or home address.

DEADLINE: OCTOBER 31, 2026

The BIR extended the compliance deadline for covered online businesses to October 31, 2026.

The requirement applies to online stores and other businesses and professionals maintaining an online commercial presence.

HOW DO YOU GET THE BADGE?

The Registration Seal Badge can be obtained through the BIR’s Online Registration and Update System or ORUS.

For already registered businesses, this may involve confirming or updating registration information, submitting the required application through ORUS, and paying the applicable ₱30 Documentary Stamp Tax before downloading the updated Certificate of Registration and Registration Seal Badge.

ONE IMPORTANT REMINDER

This is a BIR requirement.

It does not replace the other permits, registrations, licenses, or regulatory requirements that may separately apply to a veterinary clinic, hospital, pharmacy, or veterinary business.

So while veterinarians are busy dealing with patients, surgeries, inventory, employees, PRC requirements, business permits, BAI requirements, and everything else involved in running a practice…

there may now be one more item to add to the compliance checklist.

Check your veterinary clinic’s Facebook page.

Check your website.

Check your online store.

Because compliance is no longer limited to the permits hanging on your clinic wall.

Your online business presence matters too.
