Celebrating 7 Years of Vet Central Lab Philippines: A tribute to service, science, and the people behind the mission

Seven years is not just a number. In veterinary diagnostics, it represents thousands of samples processed, countless diseases detected early, and innumerable animals given a better chance at life because someone cared enough to test, confirm, and treat correctly.

This week, Vet Central Lab Philippines, Inc. celebrates its 7th anniversary, marking seven years of dedication to animal diagnostic, research, and consultancy services. But beyond the banners and congratulatory posts, this milestone is really about people—the scientists, veterinarians, mentors, and quiet heroes who built something that now serves the entire veterinary community.

A lab built on service, not just science

Diagnostics is the invisible backbone of modern veterinary medicine. When a clinician makes a life-or-death decision, it is often based on a lab result: a blood smear, a culture, a PCR, or a histopathology slide.

For seven years, Vet Central Lab has stood behind those decisions, providing Filipino veterinarians with reliable data they can trust. From small clinics to major hospitals, from universities to government agencies, the lab has become a partner in patient care, not just a service provider.

This is what makes Vet Central Lab different. It is not just a laboratory. It is a bridge between science and clinical reality.

Doc Veronica Matawaran – my teacher, my nanay

This anniversary is deeply personal to me.

Doc Veronica Matawaran was my Microbiology professor in college. Long before she became a respected figure in diagnostics, she was already shaping future veterinarians in the classroom. To me, she is more than a teacher. She is like a nanay.

Every time I see her still active, still attending conventions, still contributing to the profession, I am reminded why I fell in love with veterinary medicine in the first place. Knowledge shared with kindness creates generations of better doctors.

To be able to celebrate this milestone with her still standing strong in the field is something I truly cherish.

Doc Florisa Viloria – a familiar face in veterinary leadership

Doc Florisa Viloria is another name that carries weight in our profession. I first knew her as a sales manager at Boehringer Ingelheim, where she was always present in the field, working closely with veterinarians.

Later, when I was an officer of PAHA, I often saw her together with Doc Blesilda Carlos, who happens to be one of my own mentors. Those were formative years for many of us, when industry and organized veterinary medicine worked hand in hand to raise standards.

Seeing Doc Flor now celebrating seven years with Vet Central Lab is a reminder that leadership in veterinary medicine takes many forms, not just inside clinics, but in laboratories, companies, and institutions that support the entire ecosystem.

Seven years of impact

In a country where access to advanced veterinary diagnostics is still a challenge, keeping a laboratory running with integrity for seven years is no small feat.

It means:

Maintaining quality control
Investing in technology
Training staff
Supporting veterinarians in difficult cases
Standing by results even when they are inconvenient

That is real professionalism.

Vet Central Lab did not just survive seven years. It earned them.

A milestone worth celebrating

To Doc Veronica, Doc Flor, the entire Vet Central Lab team, and their partners here and abroad: this anniversary is yours. You have helped shape better veterinary decisions, better outcomes, and a stronger profession.

As someone who has been taught by you, worked alongside your colleagues, and witnessed your journey, I say this sincerely:
