PRESS RELEASE

Vet Diagnostix Philippines Commends the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) for Upholding Diagnostic Integrity in Rabies Testing

Vet Diagnostix Philippines acknowledges the Bureau of Animal Industry – Animal Health and Welfare Division (BAI-AHWD) for its recent public clarification and apology following the inadvertent use of Vet Diagnostix product images in a previous advisory related to rabies rapid test kits.

We appreciate the BAI’s prompt action in correcting the record and formally recognizing that the images used did not represent any rabies test kit registered, marketed, or sold by Vet Diagnostix Philippines. This transparency reflects professionalism, accountability, and respect for companies that strictly comply with ethical and regulatory standards.

We formally accept the BAI’s apology and commend the agency for addressing the matter in a responsible and forthright manner.

The BAI’s clarification also reinforces a vital scientific and regulatory fact that must never be blurred:

There are currently no FDA-registered rabies rapid test kits approved for use in the Philippines.

Rabies is a fatal, public-health-critical disease. Any diagnostic claim made without proper regulatory approval, laboratory confirmation, and biosafety controls places animals, veterinarians, and the public at serious risk. By reiterating this clearly, the BAI has helped safeguard not only patients, but also the integrity of veterinary medicine.

To further clarify for the veterinary community and the public:

Vet Diagnostix is a global diagnostic brand with products distributed in many countries under different regulatory environments. Not all Vet Diagnostix products are available in every country. In the Philippines, Vet Diagnostix operates strictly within FDA, BAI, and national regulatory frameworks.

There is no rabies rapid test kit under the Vet Diagnostix brand that is registered, marketed, or sold in the Philippines.
This is by design and by compliance.

Vet Diagnostix Philippines has always maintained a firm and science-based position on this issue:

We do not sell, promote, or support rabies rapid test kits because rabies cannot be reliably diagnosed from saliva or blood using lateral-flow technology.

Confirmatory rabies diagnosis requires proper laboratory methods such as direct fluorescent antibody (DFA) testing and other validated protocols conducted in accredited biosafety facilities.

Our mission is fully aligned with that of the Bureau of Animal Industry:

To ensure that veterinary diagnostics in the Philippines remain science-based, safe, ethical, and trustworthy.

When regulators and responsible industry partners work together, the result is stronger professional standards, better patient protection, and safer communities.

Vet Diagnostix Philippines stands with the Bureau of Animal Industry in its commitment to accurate diagnostics, animal welfare, and public health.

Signed,
Dr. Geoff Carullo, DVM
President
