And the sad truth is this:
Words like these hurt more than people realize — and sometimes, they destroy people silently.
Veterinary Medicine Is Not About Killing Animals
Walang veterinarian na pumasok sa kursong ito para pumatay.
Kung may client na ganyan ang tingin sayo, wag mo na tanggapin. May options tayo as veterinarians to refuse service, lalo na kung binababoy na tayo.
We study for years.
We train.
We fail.
We learn again.
We wake up every day hoping more animals survive, heal, and live longer.
Pero may mga panahon na:
A dog is in severe pain.
A cat can no longer breathe.
A pet is suffering beyond recovery.
And when euthanasia becomes the last option, it is never “killing.”
It is mercy.
It is compassion.
It is pain shared between a doctor, a family, and a life we honor until the end.
And believe me:
We carry those goodbyes long after everyone has gone home.
“Namemera lang kayo”
This is another heavy accusation.
Yes, vet clinics charge.
Yes, medicines, diagnostics, equipment, staff salaries, electricity, oxygen, anesthesia — all cost money.
But that doesn’t mean vets are greedy.
It means:
We run hospitals.
We pay our teams.
We maintain safe facilities.
We make sure your pets get quality care.
Just like human doctors, nurses, and hospitals — veterinary care also has real costs.
“Deserve niyo yan”
This is the part that hurts the most.
Mental health among veterinarians is a real global issue.
Not because we are heartless.
But because:
We see suffering daily.
We get blamed when reality doesn’t match expectations.
We get accused when treatment is expensive.
We get attacked online.
We carry grief quietly.
And still — we show up again the next day.
Para sa aso.
Para sa pusa.
Para sa pamilya na umaasa.
Please — Don’t Paint Us All the Same
Kung may hindi magandang karanasan ka sa isang vet, kausapin mo, linawin mo, intindihin mo ang kaso.
Pero sana:
Huwag lahatin.
Behind every white coat is a human being:
May pamilya.
May kaba.
May takot.
May puso.
We also cry in our cars after euthanasia.
We question ourselves after difficult cases.
We stay awake replaying decisions.
Protect compassion.
Choose kindness.
Veterinary medicine is not just a job.
It is service.
It is sacrifice.
It is love for animals — even when it hurts.
Kung may nakita kang ganitong posts online, remember:
Your words can either heal — or break someone who is already exhausted.
And to every vet reading this:
You matter.
Your work matters.
Your compassion matters.
Keep going — but protect your peace.
