On January 13, 2026, the veterinary community of Dasmariñas celebrates more than a birthday. It celebrates the story of a man who turned vulnerability into vision and hardship into strength.
Dr. Jonathan “Doc Jon” Chua was born with a cleft lip and palate, a condition that came with surgeries, speech challenges, stares, and cruelty from strangers. But instead of shrinking from it, he stood up to it. In 2025, he publicly wrote what many never have the courage to say:
“Every scar tells a story of strength. Every hurdle has shaped resilience. I don’t need your pity, and I don’t need your approval. I’m proud of how far I’ve come. I love my smile, even if it doesn’t look like yours.”

Today, Doc Jon is the founder and lead veterinarian of Pet Protection Veterinary Clinic (PPVC) in Dasmariñas, Cavite. But he is also something else that few veterinarians become: a disciplined strategist for financial stability.
He believes one truth that many professionals avoid:
A single income stream is not enough to protect the people who depend on you.
That is why in 2023, he became one of the earliest franchisees of Avocadoria, opening his first branch while actively running his veterinary clinic. It was not an exit from veterinary medicine. It was a shield for it.
As he shared:
“Naniniwala ako na diversification is a must. Kapag mahina ang isang industry, puwedeng sumalo ang ibang industry sa financial needs natin. Naging hugot ko sa pagpasok sa ganitong industriya ang family ko at ang staff ko, para makapag-provide ng stable future sa kanila.”
He also serves as a financial advisor with Sun Life of Canada Philippines, helping families protect their futures—just as he protects animals in his clinic.
What makes Doc Jon remarkable is that despite building businesses outside veterinary medicine, he never walked away from it.
“Di ko kaya i-let go ang veterinary field kasi sobrang happy ako with veterinary medicine. I continue to pursue further learnings, training, and studies.”
He stayed.
He grew.
He prepared.
Because to him, success is not just about today’s income. It is about tomorrow’s security.
