General Reference Range
- Mean normal VHS: 9.7 ± 0.5 vertebrae
- Values above 10.5 suggest cardiomegaly

- Brachycephalics often run higher
- Deep-chested breeds often run lower
- Cavaliers can look “normal” even with early disease
