FEATURED VETERINARIAN | PLENARY SPEAKER – PVMA 2026
There are veterinarians who master procedures.
There are veterinarians who master pain control.
And then there are those who redefine what safe and humane practice should look like.
Dr. Joel Jay T. Martorillas, DVM, MSc, DipPCCP belongs to that last group.
As Head of Anaesthesia at Beecroft Animal Specialist and Emergency Hospital in Singapore, Dr. Martorillas works where precision is non-negotiable and patient comfort is a professional responsibility. His philosophy is simple but powerful: anesthesia is not just about putting patients to sleep, it is about how safely they wake up and how pain-free they recover.
A graduate of the University of Southern Mindanao, he pursued advanced postgraduate training in small animal abdominal ultrasound at the University of Melbourne, followed by a Master’s degree in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia from the University of Edinburgh. With PennHIP certification and clinical interests spanning pain management, advanced imaging, dentistry, and echocardiography, his career reflects global training applied with purpose.
What makes Dr. Martorillas especially compelling for Filipino veterinarians is his impact. He brings international standards into real-world clinical settings, proving that better analgesia and vigilant anesthetic monitoring are achievable, practical, and essential. His work challenges the profession to move beyond “good enough” and toward safer, more compassionate care.
This impact takes center stage as he joins the Philippine Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA) Annual Convention and Scientific Conference 2026 as a Plenary Speaker, contributing to the national conversation on patient safety, pain management, and modern anesthesia practices.
